I know what that’ s all about. It’ s not about protecting the hitch, it’ s about protecting your pants. It looks like its bolted in for whatever reason so it’ s probably a pain to remove and getting hitch ball grease all over your pants loading your car sucks.

Hitches should be removed when not in use.

While I agree generally , I keep mine on sometimes when I know I will use it where I am going simply because if it’ s in the receiver its not in the back of the car as a potential missile in the event of a crash. I’d rather leave its greasy missileness outside.

I had to, my legs were covered in unsightly grease.

Perhaps it is to punish those street parkers that cannot park.

Few months ago, my wife’s WRX had the grill bashed in by what must have been a hitch at just the right height. It was a lease, due back in a month or two, so I had to buy a new grill on eBay, remove the whole damn front bumper, reinstall the new one, and put the bumper back.
Yes, hitches should be removed when not in use. Tell it all the Weld County bros in their shitty RAMs.

There is a tennis ball al ready to cover the hitch and protect your pants from the grease. This is to protect the tennis ball. A protection for the protection. One can’t be enough prepared ...

The person that slammed into mine at a stop light was probably thinking the same thing.
